Keep Looking Down

Ephesians 2:6 And He raised us up together with Him and made us sit down together [giving us joint seating with Him] in the heavenly sphere [by virtue of our being] in Christ Jesus (the Messiah, the Anointed One). [Amp]

A few years ago while on a ministry trip to central B.C. in Canada, a friend of Awake & Arise said something I will never forget: "Keep looking down!" I had to ponder this for a minute, being used to hearing the opposite, as in "keep looking up!" I've decided I like his version best, for it is more 'true' of who we really are, in Christ. Pondering this in my quiet time today, the following rolled out of my heart...

Holy Spirit, take me
into all You have for me
don't let me live a small life,
less than 'eternity.'

You've called my life to walk anew
in paths You've made for me and You
that lead to undiscovered lands
approached by those free of world's bands...

With 'fear of man' under our feet
and 'awe of God' allowed to lead
and 'sights' not down in low doldrums
but set on Heaven where life comes from!

I'm made for more than just this life
'earth-bound' I enter needless strife
like eagle's taunted by the crows
but soaring; high above earth's woes.

This is the life You've made for me
Heaven come, till I'm 'made free!'

Remember... Keep looking down!!!

Consuming Fire

Hebrews 12:29
For our God [is indeed] a consuming fire!

Swirling Glory
Powerful Fire
fierce & glowing
higher & higher

Burn the dross
till all is new
Make my life
as fresh as dew

that can distill
at God's own will
in places broad
or unknown still

For I am Yours
sent by Your love
to release Your grace
to any place

fulfilling with pleasure
what You desire
at the bid of Your Wind
at the sound of Your Fire
